If you are a mechanic or if you have one in your garage, you would surely ask yourself what is the location of the exhaust manifold? This is an important question, as the poor performance of some bikes could be attributed to this. The reason is because the muffler does not reach the back of the engine and hence, the noise is heard at the back. The noise that you hear from the back is usually the exhaust manifold muffler clogging.

The exhaust manifold in the bike is basically a long tube pipe placed in the engine compartment. Its function is to guide the exhaust gases away from the catalytic converter. It does so by reducing the friction that exists between the exhaust pipes. Thus, by means of the exhaust manifold, the engine runs smoother.

But you need to know that despite the importance of this part, it could still break due to various reasons. The first reason is that the fitting is not perfect. It does not necessarily mean that you should get the highest quality exhaust system. You only need to check the pipe joints and other possible defects. If you notice anything wrong, do not hesitate to replace it. This could save you from heavy repair bills.

Another reason why your bike exhaust system could break down is because the hoses are leaking. It is not always the case that hoses are made from good quality materials. There are instances when they are poorly made and hence, they fail to serve the purpose they were designed for. If your bike’s exhaust hoses are leaking, it could mean that you need to replace them.

Last but not the least; your bike exhaust manifold could be worn out. It is very possible for you to replace just the exhaust manifold instead of the entire exhaust system. You can also do so if the hoses or the tubes are too damaged. When you replace the entire exhaust manifold, you are left with a working engine. However, if the tubes or hoses are busted, you would have to purchase new ones.

So, now that you know how vital it is to keep your bike’s exhaust working properly, you should start looking for where is the exhaust manifold? Keep in mind that every bike has its own exhaust system. Some are made for a lighter weight sport bike while others are made for a powerful sports bike. Hence, it is important to choose the right one.
