Tire When to Replace Them

The most commonly asked question among drivers is how often should you replace your wheels? In general, there are generally two factors which affect when to replace tires: age and wear. Tire Age: All tires tend to start to experience less wear as they get older. This can occur because of environmental impacts, aging, and poor storage conditions…

Tread Depth: The actual tread depth of a set of tires is an important factor in determining when to replace them. The deeper the tread is, the more traction that are provided; and the more wear it experiences. The tread depth is measured in millimeters or inches. The less distance between the deepest point on the tire and the closest point on other parts of the wheel affects the amount of traction offered. The closer the tread depth is to the center line on the tire, the lower the tire’s traction capability will be.

So, when should you replace the tires on your vehicle? Ideally, you should replace them at the suggested time given by the manufacturer. But, if you have changed your vehicle’s oil recently, or if you haven’t driven long enough to generate significant heat buildup, you may want to consider waiting until the temperature outside reaches about 55 degrees Fahrenheit for the recommended time of year to replace the tires.
